Small saucepan
large mug
Small whisk
Milk frother optional
- 1 ½ cups oat milk
- 1 tbsp carob powder
- 1 - 2 tsp maple syrup to taste
- ¼ tsp cinnamon
- ⅛ tsp nutmeg
- ⅛ tsp ginger powder
- 1 pinch salt
- splash vanilla extract
In a small saucepan, heat the oat milk over medium-low until steaming (don’t boil).
In a mug, whisk together carob powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt.
Create a paste by adding 2–3 tablespoons of the hot milk to the mug and whisk until smooth.
Pour in the rest of the steamed milk while whisking.
Optional: top latte with a little frothed oat milk.
Add maple syrup and vanilla.
Top with a dusting of cinnamon or a sprinkle of carob.
- Milk options: Unsweetened oat milk creates the creamiest latte, while almond milk keeps it lighter. Cashew milk is another great option for a naturally smooth texture.
- Carob powder: Use roasted carob powder for the best flavour. Carob is naturally sweet, so start with less added sweetener and adjust to taste.
- Sweeteners: Maple syrup pairs well with carob, but honey or date syrup can be substituted if preferred.
- Spice balance: Adjust the spices to suit your taste. A pinch of clove or cardamom adds extra warmth, while more cinnamon brings out carob’s natural sweetness.
- Lighter option: To reduce calories, use almond milk or replace part of the milk with water.
